  1. The Best Man is the ninth novel by Australian author, Dianne Blacklock Some years after the devastating loss of her father, book publicist Madeleine Pepper was almost off the rails when she met children s book author, Henry Darrow Henry s solidity, his caring and his deliberate manner brought her back from the brink So Maddie was overjoyed when Henry moved from America to marry her And now Henry s best friend from college and soon to be best man was arriving, and Maddie hoped Aiden Carmichael wo [...]

  2. I have always been a fan of Dianne Blacklock s books, having read them all, but this one just didn t cut the mustard The three main characters were quite flat and one dimensional and most of the time they were quite unlikeable All three of them were self centred and shallow and I never got a sense of who they really were. But my main criticism is that the storyline was so ridiculously predictable From the first couple of pages it was completely obvious how the book was going to play out That it t [...]

  3. Dianne Blacklock s ninth novel, The Best Man, is a story that tests the boundaries of relationships and explores the implications of choices and how they can send someone s life on a different path in a matter of seconds. The protagonist in The Best Man, Madeleine, is a successful publicist who is engaged to children s author Henry Darrow One month before their wedding, Henry s best man from America arrives and his entrance into the happy couples life is like a whirlwind Quiet, calm and thoughtfu [...]

  4. The ninth book by Australian author Dianne Blacklock, The Best Man is an appealing story that asks the question, is the best man always the right man When book publicist and party girl, Madeleine Pepper, met reserved American children s author, Henry Darrow, it was a case of opposites attract Now it is just weeks until their wedding and Madeleine is excited to be welcoming Henry s best man, Aiden Carmichael, for a month long visit Aiden is charismatic, outgoing and impulsive, in effect, everythi [...]

  5. With her wedding only weeks away, Madeline Pepper can not wait to meet her fianc , Henry Darrow s, best man Aiden Carmichael is so different from the calming and steady influence of her groom to be Aiden is outgoing, impulsive and charismatic qualities that Madeline is starting to wish Henry shared With secrets about Henry s past coming out, Madeline starts to question just how well she really knows Henry and who the best man for her really is With thirteen year old twin sons and a busy life as [...]

  6. The main thing I liked was recognising the suburbs The story was slow and sluggish to start with and although it picked up I think, or was that just that I had resolved to plod through it , it was by no means a must read , nor an enticement to read another title by the author But romantic novels are not my fave genre so I may be unfairly judging.

  7. BLACKLOCK S latest novel, The Best Man, delves into the lives of two women working in the publicity department of a publishing house hooked already, aren t you.One is a head down bum up working single mother of twins and the other is her underling, a bubbly bride to be.Their lives are put into disorder when bride, Madeleine s best man arrives from overseas and her boss, Liv, is attempting to thwart her ex husband s persistent come ons. While The Best Man lacked the signature family feel that her [...]

  8. My first Dianne Blacklock book and she has already written 8 others Light and entertaining when publicist Madeleine welcomes her fianc and children s author Henry Darrow s American friend and soon to be Best Man, Aiden at Sydney Airport and the fireworks begin.Liv is mother of twins, divorced and Madeleine s publicist boss meets an unknown man and her fireworks begin Fireworks develop and certainly entertained me.Have to check out some of Dianne s other books

  9. I do I do, I do, I do, I do I do I LOVED it Best book EVER by Dianne Blacklock I must now bump Three s a Crowd down to make way for this one as my top DB read Brilliant cast Di made me love them all even the the not so nice one I had to keep reading Always a great sign Dianne Blacklock s career has influenced and inspired me for a long time I want to be her when I grow up

  10. Kind of meh Not bad exactly, but flat Dianne is capable of so much better The potential was there, but somehow it just wasn t interesting I found myself skimming by the half way point because I was bored and wanted to move on.

  11. Another great novel by Dianne, I really liked this book and enjoyed the two stories within, one about Madeleine Henry and the other about Liv her boss. Now, this is a book which would make a great film

  12. I loved all of Dianne s other books This book is light and entertaining but unlike her others it sat on my bedside table for a few weeks Usually her books are read in two days The storyline and ending was not as predicted

  13. I didn t enjoy this as much as her other books probably because the main character was annoying and we didn t get to know anything about her partner until near the end of the book.

  14. Too human, too real for my taste Blacklock, nonetheless, did a good job with character development and wrote a piece that just made me want to see it through the end.
