  7. I love how the author used the rhyming rhythm of The House That Jack Built to introduce children to the wide world of the American prairie Unlike many other books that try to cut a core sample for children so as not to overwhelm them the book comes at the whole wide topic with a different approach Children are slowly introduced to the complex levels of life from the prairie s underground to the above ground And instead of focusing on one particular main species they stretch the name given to tha [...]

  11. Taking the pattern of This is the House that Jack Built, Marybeth Lorbiecki teaches us about the wonders and beauty of the prairie Cathy Morrison s illustrations are incredibly vivid She helps publishers adapt her art into interactive book apps This book has one in which the animals dig, fly, and eat when you touch them Lots of added information in the back of the books on the animals and plants of the prairie.

  12. I like the action packed illustrations and some of the word choices critters that worm and squirm unpaged and preparing to pounce unpaged and the fact that this tribute to the prairies is written in rhyming text But some of the lines are hard to say and a tad awkward This is one busy place, though, and the thumbnail sketches provide additional information about some of the inhabitants of the prairie mentioned earlier and their contributions to the prairie ecosystem.
