  1. I have a great weakness for Traditional regencies, that being said I found Alicia Quigley s The Secret Bluestocking a fun little read While not perfect it still held my attention to the end In the vein of Heyer, Quigley tried to be as authentic to the period with speech and mannerism I felt at times she tried a little to hard that the speech felt still and didn t flow as nicely This left the witticism and zingers many trads are know for out She did an excellent job however creating the regency s [...]

  2. This is a clean historical romance novel set in Regency England It is the story of Isobel Paley who is a blue stocking and part of aristocracy She meets Lord Francis Wheaton after an accident with his curricle in front of her house What follows is a slow burn of a romance as both parties get to know each other This is suitable for a lighter read It is not perfect, there are some typos and the dialogue jars the ear initially and it has most of the tropes of this genre.

  3. A lady of Passion Isobel s After Dark Recency Romance. In this book we find a rich and intelligent woman living in the time when women did not have any rights to their own money or property when they married At the time she married her money and property became her husband s to do with as he pleased Isobel had decided not to ever marry You see she had a secret in her life She had studies in the ruins and finding mosaic tile she found in the digs near her home in Scotland where she has her summer [...]

  4. I read many romance novels with rogues reformed by love, so this is the first time I read one on bluestockings reformed.Isobel has a very poor opinion of marriage She is sure a husband would hinder her studies in archeology, over, as her best friend is experiencing abuse and economical ruin because of her husband, she is scared of how adoring suitors show their true colors after the marriagedrinking, gambling and humiliating their wives.Isobel is sure But, I truly do not want to put my person an [...]

  5. I just finished A LADY OF PASSION and I enjoyed the story The story is of two people coming to know one another The hero, Lord Francis was found injured in a carriage accident outside the home of the heroine, Isabelle That is where the story begins In fell in love with the hero but had problems warming up to the heroine I found the heroine, Isabelle was a little too independent and out spoken for me Don t get me wrong I like a spunky heroine but I felt Isabelle took it to the extreme Lord Franci [...]

  6. This is an enjoyable read Closer to 3 1 2 stars Miss Isobel Paley is a strong minded, independent woman who is a closet scholar She publishes under a pseudonym, Marcus Paley, an imaginary invalid cousin Lord Francis Wheaton is drawn to Isobel but she spurns his proposal twice He proves himself to be an honourable gentleman who would allow her the freedom to pursue her historical and archaeological interests but because of her dear friend, Letitia s, disastrous marriage, Isobel doubts the sinceri [...]

  7. Meh The previous one of these that I read was much better than this one We are told far than are shown, yet we are not told enough to make the relationship or even Francis credible On the other hand, I discovered that Prime Members can borrow certain titles for free, which is how I came to read this at all I liked Isobel, and thought she was reasonably well depicted, but all the rest was far too shallowly drawn to be really good The editing was appalling, particularly with regard to mixed up pr [...]

  8. I really enjoy this book It kept you on the edge of the seat You never know what Isobel would come up with to hid the fact that she is an archeologist and a published writer in argeology journals She finds it harder to hide as she has a suitor that would not leave her alone Will she finally share her secret and let him accept her for who she is Or will she run away from the chance of true love.

  9. I do like that this book had a strong, progressive female main character Other than that I found it a bit dull and tiresome I found the characters to be very one dimensional If you like Georgette Heyer novels you will probably like this.

  10. Taking a little off for careless proofing and sometimes awkward and stilted conversation Still, this is a very good book Good research, likeable and interesting characters, a believable plot and good pacing everything I like to see in a Regency.

  11. Cute A really nice historical romance I loved her quirks and his patience with them A fun, quick and easy read.

  12. This is almost a good book I ll read her next book or two, to see if she i proves enough that the books get to be actually good.
