  1. A delightful and satisfying reada social look at the wide variety of characters in a small English village It was a little slow to catch my interest, but in the end I was very sorry to bid them farewell I was a bit disconcerted by the use of the third person , present tense throughout, and each time I picked it up to resume reading bothered me for a few sentences, then I forgot about it, as I was caught up in the story line s.

  2. The story opens with a peeping tom who runs away This theme recurs through the book, as we get involved in the lives of the people concerned Some caricatures, some believable By the time the peeping tom is exposed, it s become obvious who it is nevertheless an enjoyable read.
