  1. Whoa This blew my socks off I finished the previous book in this series and went straight into this one with gusto I was addicted The last book ended on a cliffhanger and I expected the plot to be picked up here but it wasn t slightly disappointed at first that soon didn t matter as this book notched up to another level. The writing in this book is absolutely brilliant It s also better than the previous novel and that got 5 stars so what can I say This author is going places.I loved the plot in t [...]

  2. I love it when I discover a new writer especially when it s at the start of a new series and it s been such a joy to read this third instalment of the North East police series as I ve followed and loved it since the first If you re new to K A Richardson you can read this as a standalone but once read you ll want to discover her other books anyway One of the things I m loving is that she brings characters from previous books back in so their stories are all interconnected, very similar to how Kar [...]

  3. It looks like I am out on a limb all alone with this one as it got a lot of 5 star reviews But, after really enjoying the first two books in this series I found this one a little lackluster in comparison While the earlier books featured the CSIs, this one focuses on the area s dive teams They seem to pull an inordinate number of bodies out of various waterways until they find a cache of bodies that gets to the crux of the story. We also follow the travails of a young Philipino girl who was grabb [...]

  4. There are times when you read a book where you feel that it is so real you could turn Sky News on to see if there have been any further developments in the case Well that is what it felt like with this book K A Richardson s storyline is one that could be linked to any city in the UK, one of human trafficking It follows the abduction of 15 year old Elvie and her terrible ordeal and that of some of the people taken at the same time as her The vivid descriptions of not only the conditions that thes [...]

  5. Even though this is the third book in the North East Police series, they can all easily be read as stand alone s Each novel seems to focus on a different character and even though some from previous books will pop up, in no way do you feel like your missing out like you can with some books in a series As it s a great series though I do of course recommend reading them all.Through Marlo and her colleagues, we get a closer look into what police divers actually do It s not very often crime books or [...]

  6. I received an arc copy of this book from bloodhound in exchange for an honest review This book had plenty of thrills and spills to keep you reading and guessing who done it upled with people s private lives This book was a great read

  7. Having read KA Richardson s previous books and loving them I couldn t wait to read Time To Play I t was so well written and researched by the author that I had to put it down and come back to it many times due to the heavy content of the book until I reached the end KA Richardson is a fantastic author and though I only recently discovered her she has become one of my top favourite authors As with all of her books I m giving this one 5 stars and can t recommend it highly enough.

  8. Having read and loved the first two books in the North East Police series, I was very happy when Time to Play landed on my kindle on publication day Having come to expect great things from this author I am very pleased to say that this latest book from KA Richardson is another massive 5 hit.In Time to Play we meet police diver Marlo Buchanan and reintroduced to DI Alistair McKay I love the way in each book we get to meet new characters but still hear about some old favourites from the previous t [...]

  9. This book grabbed me from the very first page and held me firmly in its grasp until the end.If you don t like violence then it may not be for you but it is an up to date thriller which is fast paced and I read late into the night to finish it.5 shiny stars from me

  10. Gripping and thrillingThis book was a fantastic read, I could not put it down Easy to relate to the characters, and despite the initial appearance that there are many sub plots, the shock of it all coming together makes it worth reaching the end.

  11. Killer storySerial killer, drugs, trafficking all coming together in a joint investigation and disgrace for a policeman born into a bad family

  12. Another amazing read by this awesome author who never fails to produce a stunning novel A well deserved 5

  13. North East Police Series book 3When you have nowhere to go what can you do When the threat of violence is upon you, can you escape the gruesome fate awaiting you You are savagely taken away from the country you grew up in and now far from home No one will miss you or notice your disappearance, you are on your own Where do you find the strength to go on, to stay alive, to keep up hope Elvie has no idea what is happening she s abducted in her country, sent abroad with other girls, locked up in a c [...]

  14. I received this eBook as an ARC from Bloodhound Books.I enjoyed the unusual angle of setting the main action within a police diving team and the interaction between the characters is compelling The different threads to the story are woven together in a surprising manner and the identity of the villain came as a shock Richardson tackles contemporary themes such as people trafficking and drug use with insight and understanding and the setting is convincing.A good read.

  15. This is the first book I have read of Richardson s and I couldn t tell it was part of a series, which is great Time To Play is the third instalment of the North East Police series but works just fine as a standalone.I found the inclusion of a different department of the police force quite refreshing, I m not sure I ve read a crime police procedural which includes any officers other than the detectives and their teams obviously the forensics, pathologists and specialists who are called in but I v [...]

  17. This is the third novel in the hit series featuring North East Police by K.A.Richardson It can certainly be read as a standalone but I really do think that you should read the series in order to maximize your enjoyment of the series.I have loved each and every book in the series so far, both for their local setting and for their authenticity I live in the North East and I love to read stories set in places with which I am familiar The author is a local lady too, who used to be a Crime Scene Inve [...]

  18. I haven t read the other 2 books in the North East Police series but that made no difference to this book However, having completed this book it s just made me disappointed that I didn t read them as this one was a great read Marlo Buchanan is a Police diver and to be honest this career path is one I haven t seen in a fiction book I ve read so it made a refreshing change Her and the team are called out regularly and at first there seems to be no link to the other part of the story.Elvie is anoth [...]

  19. This book, described as thrilling, doesn t do K A Richardson justice It is brilliantly written and keeps you gripped until the end.At the beginning a young girl watches a candle, left in the kitchen, catch fire and setting the house alight She is outside in a shed cowering from her foster mother s boyfriend. There appears to be at least two strands to the story The main one is a gang of men operating a sex trafficking ring The girls are snatched and imported in containers One young survivor does [...]

  21. 3 scenarios One is the police investigating a possible murder, another is a young girl having been trafficked, and the third is a girl kept in a cage How do they all connect This is a fast moving interesting read that has something new on every page One murder becomes One girl becomes and so the stories intertwine Ali and Marlo are very likeable characters as is Elvie Connor has a disturbing character in his life that he would love to get rid of but for the sake of others he is unable to as he [...]

  22. Author This trilogy is fantastic it could well have been written by a famous author I find it hard to believe its a new author as good as Rankin any day amazing if it s a new author can see hopefully of the same has got a great list of characters they could follow on with this theme I will be waiting for the next one thank you Magdg

  23. This is Book 3 in the North East Police series and is every bit as gripping as Book 2 My actual rating is 4.6 stars rounded to 5This book features Ali and Marlo who both have baggage they are trying to deal with There are 2 police cases and the story is told from the perspective of several people There are twists and turns all the way through and a sex scene which I think brought nothing to the story so I skimmed over it as I usually do The characters are fully rounded and very realistic and the [...]

  24. This was my favourite book up to now It features Marlo who leads the underwater diving section, when investigating a drowning she and her team discovered several bodies of women It in turn leads into an investigation of human trafficking I enjoyed reading about the police underwater diving section and was interested in the preparation and the dedication that go into this part of the police force. The characters are really believable, I found myself thinking about Marlo long after I had finished [...]

  25. Why have I missed this author s books previously It s fabulous when you find a genuinely impressive writer and know that you have a whole new series, with new characters, to immerse yourself in.This is the third book in the North East Police series and thankfully, after reading other reviews, I ve found they can be read as stand alones, but the quality of the writing has ensured that I will go back read the others in the series. This novel revolves around the diving team branch of the police and [...]

  26. The provocative descriptions of Durham bring the city to life I found the idea of a police diving team featuring in a crime novel really refreshing. The fast paced story centres on the trafficking of Filipino girls abducted from their homes to a life of violence, drugs and prostitution.Tormented souls abound in this story, not least the feisty police diver, Marla and DI Ali I particularly identified with DI Ali he has erected walls to protect his vulnerability and self doubt. The two plot lines me [...]

  27. A cracking readThis is the first book I ve read from this author, out of order, it is still an excellent read, and only on a couple of occasions did I feel I had missed something from an earlier book That didn t detract from the story and only made me want to read the earlier books straight away This book really had it all, from romance to humour, to murder, to blackmail, trafficking, drug abuse, torture It might make it sound implausible , but it is anything but Excellent Highly recommended

  28. I was given this book by Bloodhound Publishing in exchange for my honest review.I usually settle down to read just before bed as busy during the day, when I started reading I just couldn t put it down, I kept thinking just one chapter, no I think I can do another chapter, before I knew it, it was 1am arrgh not good when you have to be up at 7.15am.KA Richardson is a very talented crime writer, and although Time To Play is about human trafficking and very sensitive, it is really well written.I l [...]
