  1. My favorite part of steampunk is the women is the female characters They are strong and often times are the heroes of the day Renwick s novella is no exception to how great the female characters in this genre can be First I loved her twist on character development by creating a multi cultural world that that included cultures not normally presented Her use of foreign words interwoven throughout the story read flawlessly I never once felt like she was banging me over the head with massive info du [...]

  2. A fun quick read I especially enjoyed the diverse couple and the second chance romance The mystery was fun, though not too deep or engrossing I will definitely try something longer from this author.

  3. What do you get when you mix a little Jules Verne with a little romantic suspense and add in some steampunk espionage and a blue frog Anne Renwick s A Trace of Copper Although the author wrote a tough act to follow with the first two books the third is a worthy successor, although even less Jules Verne and romance than the first two With every Steam Punk book I read I become hooked on the genre, even though each of the author s subsequent books becomes romance and less romantic suspense, I ho [...]

  4. Like the previous book, this one is a delightful blend of modern and mystical It s easy to see the author s great love of all things science within this series And I love that you can feel the story being grounded in scientific fact while still spinning an incredible tale that requires you to suspend your disbelief I mean, really, bitten by a blue ian tree frog in the Welsh countryside That requires than just a little bit of trust on behalf of the reader But that trust is well repaid with an en [...]

  5. This book promised to be the perfect fit for me Steampunk, check Strong female character, check Bi racial couple, check Bechdel test, pass Lovely cover, check Okay, the last isn t really needed for a good read but it certainly helps with my expectations And the story did deliver. We have our very competent Dr who got ghosted by her love when he came down with a mysterious illness It is all the fault of a blue frog from deep in the jungle I would have liked a few tension filled moments between th [...]

  6. Another journey into the steampunk world and this little book does not disappoint I don t read much in this genre but I cannot pass up an Anne Renwick story This one is book 2 in the Elemental Web Tale series and at a little over 100 pages, is perfect if your short on time The story is set in Wales and tells the story of Dr Piyali Mukherji, an Indian woman who is a medical doctor and a Queen s Agent, and Evan Tredegar, a pharmacist to whom she was once engaged When a young lady develops an infec [...]

  7. I received an advanced copy of this book I am voluntarily choosing to review it Anne Renwick has done it again She has written a story of mysticism and steampunk adventure that I want to be a part of This is the third book of hers that I have read, and she is totally responsible for my fascination with steampunk and Queen s agents Her writing is concise and for someone who is new to steampunk, I understood easily what was described and what was going on The characters of Piyali and Evan are both [...]

  8. Another great story in this super fantastic series I can t wait to read from this series and all these amazing characters Piyali and Evan were great characters and I really loved reading their story I d really love to see Mr Black get his own HEA I received an ARC copy for an honest review

  9. A fascinating steampunk romance Throw in some characters who are dedicated to their jobs, some spies, espionage , weird flora and fauna, amazing steampunk tools , great location Wales and you have an entertaining cannot put it down read.

  10. I read this as part of the Myth Magic anthology and enjoyed it as much as the others in the series Both of the leads are likable in this second chance romance with a bit of steampunk and a bit of science I ll be keeping an eye out for .

  11. Amazing book by a first time author for me I just couldn t put it down The characters flow together in such a way that you feel a part of the story.

  12. 3.5 Well, I ve never read Steampunk before, so there s a little bit to get used to in the way of world rules, but I did enjoy it, and will be looking into

  13. I first read this story in the boxset of Myths and Magic I really enjoyed this short story set in this descriptive world of The Elemental Web Chronicles This time you had time to delve into the world and still get the complete sense and fulfilment like the first two books in the series I liked that the characters came from drastic backgrounds and got separated for a time but eventually crossed each other s paths to once again become a couple after years apart and critical medical reasons The int [...]
