It was a struggle to finish it To me I found the book to be quite dull and disjointed in places Parts of the book were interesting particularly the reserve SAS training but it was rushed at the conclusion.
A good read I found this book quite enlightening particularly in respect of the Irish problem , around which much of the story revolves Michael Asher writes well and his story is interesting.
Not the bestThis book was ok but nothing very exciting, the title doesn t really reflect the story ,the only saving grace was it as really short
Darkly enjoyableA seemingly troubled man trying to fit in somewhere, anywhere, some really bizarre choices but a good read along the way
Great readLoved this book, from the onset this took me back to my own basic trg it made me smile allot then the fight to become one of the world s elite amazing
GrippingHas you gripped from the very beginning You feel as though you are with him every step of the way

Brilliantly told. One man s quest to become the ultimate soldier, through the paras and their mindless beastings and fights onto the S A S and their unbelievable course, of long marches Food shortage and capture he tells it all with a honesty and humility he accepts things no one else could Going onto to police northern Ireland at the height of the troubles, truly proves that you need a special soldier to do this and cope, and he did.
Not quite what I expecting really, the last section of the book I found tough to read
